SystemA gearbox in a CA Scar
Will there be any issues dropping in a Systema M120 V2 Complete Gearbox into my Classic Army Scar-L? I know my CA has the little gears on both sides for the fire selector, but the SystemA gearbox looks like it has holes in the same place to accomodate the little gears from mine.
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=292 and here's a pic of the CA gearbox. and a pic of the System A one. Hope someone has done this already and may be able to tell me if there was any issues before I spend $300 on a gearbox.

Well, first off, the CA mechbox is actually really good, I wouldn't know why you would want to replace the entire thing, it can handle a thicker spring without anything else anyways, but yeah, the Systema one would fit fine, just make sure it's wired correctly for the SCAR, and that it has the correct selector plate on the other side of the mechbox for the SCAR, and the correct trigger ect ect.
Also, the piston in the systema may blow up after some use, if it lasts beyond around 3000 rds ish(?) then it should be fine. Also, take that wheel thingy out of the CA mechbox and put it into the systema. It was used for something that I can't remember. |

Hahaha "wheel thingy" ok, thanks I just thought it would be an easier solution giving me extra parts for my kids guns. i think I may just stick with my original idea of a piston, piston head and cylinder upgrade.

IMO, the CA mechbox is one of the best ones on the market. Not sure why you'd want to swap it out.
But you'll more than likely have to tear into the Systema box because you'll need to replace the selector plate on the Systema box with the SCAR selector. Not positive if the scar has the same trigger as the Armalite the Systema mechbox has (I THINK so, but not sure). Also, I'm not positive if the nozzle on the Systema box would work with the hopup in the SCAR. Perhaps someone with more SCAR experience can chime in here. But if you're looking to go Systema so you don't have to open the box to do work, then you're barking up the wrong tree for sure...

Oh I've already tore down the mechbox a couple of times once for a trigger switch and another time for the tappet plate. My thinking a complete unit would be less hassle but in the end it might be about the same. The scar nozzle is unique yes, its a little longer than normal ones.

Yeah. Unless you're dropping it into the gun it's designed for (Armalite in the case of Systema), it's more work and expense than it's worth IMO.

Ok, good to know thanks. Maybe I'll just concentrate on my next purchase, a CA M4
