JG Ver. 2 Gear Box
Hello
I am thinking about turning my gun into an SPR... I want alot more power than the meager 323 FPS (.2's) I have. I was wondering if I should spend money on upgrading my current gear box, stock G&G, or buy a new JG Ver. 2? Is there a better gear box I should buy? Assuming I have a price range of up to 250$ (looking for something cheaper hopefully). Thanks for your insight. |

I wouldn't buy a JG box, they can be good, but are pretty prone to lemons, and if theres nothing wrong with your G&G box except for low FPS, then i would just stick with it.
As for upgrades, i would recomend: -A slightly stiffer spring -A sorbo pad -Tighbore barrel (if you have a CAS G&G) -New hop up rubber/unit -Good shim job/lube job Is your $250 budget just for internals? or is it for the entire SPR project? If you have 250 for internals, consider a modifity smooth torque up gearset, maybe a gaurder infinite torque motor and a re-enforced mechbox.

Add a bearing spring guide to what theguy said too and you're good to go. That can net you an extra few fps as well. An M110 spring combined with all those other goodies should get you close to 400 fps.

Crack your mechbox open and look for wear (especially with the piston teeth).
Stick with the G&G box. Reshim as needed, regrease (clean out old first), check compression. Add bearing spring guide. Modify S110 spring will 99% put you under 400fps. Not sure about what front end you have on there now...but with a longer inner barrel for the SPR you want to match the cylinder porting to the inner barrel length. If your inner ends up being a M16 length...a full cylinder is needed. Air nozzles are worth replacing while you're in there...so are hopup rubbers. Have fun! Tys |

I am wondering if I should just get a complete kit like this one from airsoft parts....
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1385 I don't know if I like the idea of having a hole bunch of different parts from different companies floating around my mech box. What do you think? Is it worth the 205$ just to get the tune up kit? At m102404 I have a 510mm inner barrel and I will be keeping it that length for the SPR project. Edit: Some parts I will need to get separate, the motor, the hop up unit, the hop up rubber ect.

That's a good kit for sure. Excellent all around. Just know that this is for a long barrel only, so if you ever decide to go for a shorter barrel length, you'll also have to change out the cylinder.

You can't go wrong with Modify parts. As I was told once by FiveFingers, "It ain't modified unless it's Modify". And I have to agree with that. Especially those modular gears. They're amazing. And the more you stick with one brand of parts, the better, so that's a good setup.
Also add a sorbo pad with that and you'll be all set. At that velocity, a non-reinforced V2 mechbox is on a limited lifespan. A $10 sorbo pad will prolong its lifespan significantly.
