Are all silencers metal?

I know that is probably not true.

I am looking at the silencers on airsoftparts.ca. I would like to know if all of them are metal or plastic. I am looking into buying this one for my M4 CQB R.

some are metal, some are plastic.

but for the most part, most aftermarket suppressors are aluminum. i believe ive seen a carbon fiber suppressor.

just by looking at the silencer, does this one screw on? or clip on over the flash hider? If i do get a clip on silencer, will it fit on the "assault type flash suppressor"?

http://b2b.guay2.com/eng_our_product/g4cqb_r.htm <- my gun

At the moment, i am looking for a silencer which make my gun slightly longer and increase my range.

Any recommendations?

If you're wanting to increase your range, buy a longer barrel.

a silencer (more correctly a suppressor) will not increase your range unless it is used to hide a longer inner barrel

What is the use of a supressor on an airsoft rifle? Is it only for look?

For looks, hiding an inner barrel, muffling the snap of the piston hitting the cylinder head... Makes it sound like a pillow being fluffed really loudly.

EDIT: From now one, in airsoft, suppressors are called fluffers.

it does change the sound a little bit, we have a p90 with one because it has a m4 barrel. It changes it from the normal sound to a low thump, a little harder to tell where its coming from.

The sound that james bonds gun makes is not real, you will never get that... not even in a real fire arm.

Ive heard them suppress the sound of an airsoft rifle quite a bit, actually. To answer the initial question: No, not all suppressors are metal. Some are plastic. Heck, you can even make one out of a pop bottle for real steel (fun!).

You need to screw off the flashhider and screw on your suppressor/fluffer. The fluffers that screw directly on top of a flashhider usually have the QD designation: Quick Detach

If you want a real good suppressor for any airsoft gun, check Redwolf for their poor mans suppressor, it works the best.

QD or screw on is completely up to you. If you're hiding an inner barrel, it would be silly to have QD unless you want it for looks.

Not to be confused with the ones used in the porn industry...

Yea, if you put a longer inner barrel in the gun (like an M4 barrel in a P90), you'd hide the extended part with the suppressor.
