Top cheap mods and upgrades for a Marui hi-capa 5.1

I finally decided to go for quality and just received my Marui hi-capa 5.1

Being an airsofter I will end up messing with it after a while so I might as well do something good. Also, having already too many toys I am looking for cheap and effective upgrades.

I was wondering if you local specialists could share you opinion on these 2 things :

1. What are the Top 2 cheapest modifications/upgrades that should/could be done to a Marui hi-capa 5.1 to make it more durable/last longer?

2. What are the Top 2 cheapest modifications/upgrades that should/could be done to a Marui hi-capa 5.1 for better performance (precision, fps, ROF, ...)?

Probably cleaning the internals and washing your hop up rubber with dish soap in warm water.

Another one is clean your barrel and teflon tape the hop up rubber.

1a. Enhanced Loading nozzle
1b. Shock buffers. This will reduce the chances of the slide cracking around the rear sight (the 5.1 slide is prone to this.)

2a. Tanio Koba Twist Inner Barrel = accuracy & velocity
2b. Shock buffers = this will greatly increase cycling speed

Skladfin : do I put the teflon tape between the hopup rubber and barrel OR do I put it around the junction between the barrel and rubber?

Illusion : What does an enhanced loading nozzle do compared to the stock for durability?

Thanks for your advices!

If you're concerned about the plastic slide, a metal slide and upgraded recoil spring is always adds awesomeness.

I personally don't mind the plastic slide (look-wise) but is it known to fail and break on a Marui hi-capa?

Wouldn't a metal slide add weight and thus reduce gas efficiency and/or fps?

yeh, go with the Shock Buffers, I got 2 from ILLusion and they're great! one buffer for just protection and 2 for faster cycling (but may lose ability to lock back on empty)

Heavy, match grade ammo, minimum 0.28g BBs. I've gotten great range (and given accidental head welts) from using everything I have for my sniper rifle, including 0.43g BBs, out to 140ft outdoors in my upgraded KSC Glock 19. I'd recommend Bastards (of course), 0.28g to 0.36g, and make it dependant on use, indoor vs. outdoor. I know Illusion uses 0.30g for his competition pistols, those would work great for outdoor use, as will the 0.36g BBs. Will punch through brush like there is no tomorrow, the target will feel it hit harder, making your kill to shot ratio increase, most importantly if you only have a mag or two. Less rounds for more kills is always a good thing!

Reduces gas efficency yes. But if you're not playing in cool/cold weather, you can still get all 31 shots off. It has a big gas compartment.

Metal slides also feel (more kick) and sound awesome. Even just racking the slide is satisfying.

What's it do? It nulls the chance of the nozzle cracking/splitting/exploding while shooting the gun on propane. THe Marui nozzle is known to fail under propane use, particularly if a metal slide and/or an enhanced recoil spring is also thrown in to the mix.

The plastic slide can last a while, but on a 5.1, it will eventually fail around the rear sight.

A metal slide does add weight and reduces gas efficiency a bit, as well as ROF, but the gas efficiency issue is almost negligible and ROF can be recovered with enhanced recoil springs.

I also agree with CDN_Stalker - spend money on good ammo. It makes quite a significant difference.

My 5.1 slide cracked at the rear sight mounting point on a completely stock gun running on propane. But even after using it for a few thousand rds with an aluminium slide and a guarder 150% spring, there has been no visible wear at all on the loading nozzle.
Shouldn't there be an old and a revised version of the hi-capa?

I can attest to this, but it been on a heavly well used TM 5.1
Little chip / crack bellow rear left sight. Still acceptable comparing other gbb's running propane stock.

The nozzle doesn't ALWAYS crack, but in my experience, it's always cracked sooner rather than later.

(By "later", I mean 10,000+ rounds).

In a 4.3, I've had the nozzle crack or explode on me within one mag of use about 90% of the time.

=( I'm assuming the AS enhanced nozzle cures that as well?
