Spotter

I realize I am not old enough to become age verified but I would still like to get involved in airsoft, so I am known when I become old enough. I was wondering about being a spotter for a sniper but I would have to be unarmed.

You'd also have to find a sniper willing to take you on, and vouch for you at games. Even then the host might not let you play.

Spotters in airsoft are nothing more than a bodyguard for the sniper, so being unarmed would do nothing more than being a spectator close in with a sniper.

Although the idea of learning by direct example from a seasoned Airsoft sniper is a great concept, your best bet is to get age verified and come out to games before directly trying out the role of a spotter. Not all snipers are keen on the idea of having someone shadow them in the field, especially if you are inexperienced.... and well, under the age limit for most games

A bb does not fly the same path that a bullet does. The advice for adjustment that you give to the sniper would be useless unless you are in a totally windless/branchless environment.

Personally I don't care for an "ass hugger" (what I call a spotter) while I'm out and about doing the sniper role (just increases the chances of giving me away, I'd prefer to only have myself to blame for getting shot), but I would take someone along with me to teach if someone was interested. Even an underaged player. But an unarmed one............ ugh. About to dealt with this with my girlfriend, she wanted to see me do my thing at an airsoft game, yet realized she'd likely just give me away, so I decided to just sign her up for an airsoft game this Saturday and have her with me all day to experience airsoft. Should be fun, at least I was able to train her last weekend on shooting techniques.

Not to mention in a real sniper det, the spotter is usually the Senior Sniper of the Det, the man with more experience. Like Disco_Dante said, you would have to find someone that is willing to take you on, and event hosts that are willing to allow you to be in play on the field, even if you are unarmed.

Get him ghillied up with a camera with a big arse telephoto lens....to snap shots of those real nice long range hits. Had one this weekend, he snapped his head back and jumped sooo friggin high at the same time, lite a deer turning in mid air.....a picture would have been worth a million words.

LOL

Actually, even without being all ghillied up, if the host will allow you onto the field you can be a photographer for events.

Points for a novel idea, though.

there might be, it depends entirely on your host/field rules
