First of all for the bearings sticking to the gears...don't use bearings. Use solid bushings.

MODIFY parts are designed to be used (generally) with TM stock parts. Clone parts and aftermarket parts other than Modify parts will cause problems. If you are using non-TM gears, tappet plate, etc expect to have troubles.
As an aside, I have a new Modify TORUS mechbox (7mm) and a 6mm Modify SMOOTH Torque Up gearset with upgraded 7mm Modify Bushings. This mechbox totally kicks my ass. Best design EVER. Reinforced where it counts, inside and out. Review coming as soon as I edit some photos.

well i got my TORUS today and installed Modify 7mm Stainless BUSHINGS.
and this man is right, it does stick out quite far Compared with Marui gearbox The modify gearbox has this "powdery" kind of feel on the surface similar to systema boxes. The finish is really good. The spur gear is very close to making contact with one of the anti reversal latch holder. I sanded a little bit off the screw hole to make myself feel better. Also notice some of extra materials. these were easy to sand off, took like 5 seconds. Perfect fit with Modify 7mm Stainless bushings. It was slightly tight and needed to be hammered in though. |

Almost all ball bearing bushings are NOT meant to fit on to most OEM gear shafts (TM, G&P, CA, etc). They will ALL have problems fitting on smoothly.
They fit best with QUALITY aftermarket gear sets (Systema, Prometheus, and presumably, Modify). |

Has anyone tried to fit this mechbox in a G&P M4 metal body yet? Looking to purchase this for a custom build but I'm a little worried about fitment.

It shouldn't fit any differently than any other V2 mechbox.

Mine is going in a G&P. I'll be putting it together over the weekend. I'll post back here and let you know.

Well I can update that situation. I got my TORUS today and the added reinforcement bars at the front of the box will not fit into the upper receiver on a G&P body without some dremmeling. In my case very little dremmeling is required but, nonetheless, it's not a perfect fit.

let me know if it does, I am planning on buying one for my KA body.
I was going to buy systema, but got cold feet last minute and decided to wait until my stock G&G box broke first.

Because of the reinforcement bars at the front of the shell, sliding the box into the upper receiver is difficult, it is insanely tight, not tight enough that you have to force it in, but the clearance on either side is less than half a millimeter. There were a couple imperfections on the inside of the upper receiver that needed to be shaved because the front of the box would not move past (sliding the box in backward did not pose the same problem indicating that it is indeed the reinforcement bars that cause the problem). Also, when inserting the box, the reinforcement bars cause a slight elevation which causes the top of the box to contact and jam against the charging handle which makes it impossible to insert with the charging handle in place; so I had to dremel the charging handle as well.
Also I should note that I haven't installed the selector plate or inserted the body pins as of yet so I can't guarantee that I'm totally out of the woods on this one. Also I was wondering if anyone could inform me on how to remove the nuts on a SMOOTH gearset so that I can change the bearings to 7mm bushings. The FTK kit I bought came with 1 gear key and I'm starting to think that it is not enough to properly disassemble (also I think the nuts are thread locked in place) any suggestions? The instructions indicate that the single gear key provided sufficient to remove the nuts but since the axle is threaded on both ends I don't see how this is possible.
