Join the Second Annual IZSC (Internet Zombie Shooting Competition)! Open till Oct 31st 2009

Welcome to the SECOND ANNUAL IZSC (Internet Zombie Shooting Competition)!

(The first annual IZSC was here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=69211) A few tweaks this time around.

If you have an Airsoft gun, a printer, and less than 10 feet of open space with a backstop, you can play! You also need a 20-second timer (here is a web-based one). Optional equipment is a digital camera with which to post pictures.

You'll print out targets, shoot at them, then post your scores and possibly get some bonus points!

THE SETTING
Alone and cornered, you you are facing an oncoming wave of zombies! You must kill them as quickly as possible so you can escape before MORE arrive! You will engage zombies at 100m, 75m, 50m, and 25m on specially-scaled targets. Your objective? Kill all zombies as quickly as possible to escape. Shoot too poorly, and you will die.

STAGE 1
Print out this image.

  • Stick it up 2.5 meters (~8 feet) away.
  • Load your gun with 10 rounds and set your timer to 20 seconds. Web based timer here.
  • You have 10 rounds and 20 seconds to shoot.
  • Only head hits count (if the hole touches the head border, it's a hit.)
  • Count how many zombies you DID NOT KILL. If you killed them all, you win!
  • Otherwise take down the target and go to step 2.

STAGE 2
Take the number of zombies you DID NOT KILL in the previous stage, and multiply by 2.

Print out enough copies of the next target to make up that number. (Fold or cut sheets to get the right number.) So if you did not kill 4 zombies on stage 1, you face 8 now.

  • Stick the target(s) up at the same distance. (2.5m/8' away)
  • Load your gun with 10 rounds and set your timer to 20 seconds.
  • You have 10 rounds and 20 seconds to shoot.
  • Only head hits count (if the hole touches the head border, it's a hit.)
  • Count how many zombies you DID NOT KILL. If you killed them all, you win!
  • Take down the target(s) and go to the next step.

STAGE 3
Take the number of zombies you DID NOT KILL in the previous stage, and multiply by 2.

If that number is 20 or more, you are OVERWHELMED and dead. Game over.

Print out enough copies of the next target to make up that number. (Fold or cut sheets to get the right number.)

STAGE 4 (The last stand!)
Take the number of zombies you DID NOT KILL in the previous stage, and multiply by 2.

If that number is MORE THAN 10 then you are OVERWHELMED and dead. Game over.

Print out enough copies of the next target to make up that number. (Fold or cut sheets to get the right number.)

  • If you DID NOT KILL THEM ALL then you are overwhelmed and dead! If you killed them all, you win!
  • Count your score!

SCORING

Scoring is easy. Count your score using the following method and just post up your results!

(100 points) MINUS (total number of zombies NOT HIT on all stages including any that OVERWHELMED you if you were overwhelmed) MINUS 50 points for using a rifle.

BONUS POINTS
  • +5 points for posting a digital photo of the gun you used!
  • +10 points for posting an MS Paint drawing of you fighting the zombies!
  • +10 points for posting a digital photo of the target from at least the LAST stage you made it to! (So if you won or died on stage 3, post at least a photo of your stage 3 target.)

Post in this format:
Quote:
Did you SURVIVE or were you KILLED?
What stage did you make it to? (On what stage did you kill them all, or were overwhelmed)
What was your score? (See above for calculation)

And attach any images for bonus points, if applicable.

I kicked ass.

I SURVIVED
Killed all zombies on Stage 2.
Score: 123 (100 - 2 zombies total not hit + 25 bonus points)

2 left alive on the first target:

2 not killed on stage 1 = face 4 on stage 2.

This last stage I shot (stage 2) is actually the only target I had to post to get the +10 bonus points:

My tool (+5 bonus points for picture):

Self-portrait in MS Paint (+10 bonus points):

Nice shooting, you bastard!

This isn't actually competitive but I can't help but feel we need a tiebreaker of some kind.

You're on!

I will contribute the following conditions, let's make this more interesting:
  1. Sighting in the rifle first is allowed. (So the nut-shots on the zombies won't be from on-the-fly adjusting aim for 8 feet)
  2. Digital pics are required for EACH target (I'm sure we would anyway, but just sayin.)
  3. Winner may provide a new signature image for the loser. Loser must use that image in their signature for at least 1 week, and it must link to this thread so curious parties can see what the hooplah was about.

Of course since we're gentlemen the image won't be tasteless or anything. Probably a cropped section of a target showcasing particularly bad results, or something.

Agreed?
