Anti reversal latch. Required or no?

I am just wondering if it is absolutely necessary to have an anti reversal latch? Its a V2 mechbox in a JG M4.

nope, it's not absolutely necessary.

however you may hear the gear rewind itself after each shot(or after every burst if its full auto). You won't hear it if you have a battery that can barely pull the spring you have.

won't have any additional wear on the mechbox though

Correction, you will have additional wear on the motor.
And it sounds really bad...

... Are you serious?

The Anti-reversal latch is nessicary, if you pull the trigger while the gearbox is "unwinding" you run a VERY high risk of stripping your piston.

If it wasn't necessary they wouldn't have included it in the design.

no, it does not have additional wear on the motor. It's the same concept as turning the pinion gear with your hand when it's out of the gun.

And no, it will not strip your piston, the piston is only doing the same motion it did in a reverse. There is no reason why it would put any stress on the piston.

EDIT: Sorry didn't properly read what Amos said. Yes, if you pull on the trigger while it's rewinding, that will put additional stress on the piston.

However it is true you should have a reversal latch more than you shouldnt.

You completely missed what I was saying.

If you pull the trigger as the piston is un-winding, the gears will do a revolution, catch the piston in mid-cycle and most likely strip it. Same concept as firing the gun alot while it's jammed.

Edit: Just saw your edit

You didn't really understand what Amos said I don't think...

If you pull the trigger WHILE THE PISTON IS STILL MOVING BACKWARDS, you will strip it. Piston will be moving backwards while the gears start to move forwards again.

Point in case, I think we can all agree you really should have the anti-reversal latch in.

@OP: why do you not have an anti-reversal latch? Did you get your gun fixed by Nooblord or something?
