Airsoft in the winter ?

Ok, so it's my second post, I know that maybe somebody already post it, but... Can we play airsoft in the winter ? I mean with snow that cover your house ? And if we can, it is an easy case to broke your airsoft ? Because it's almost snowy out-side and I was wondering...

Well, you can play airsoft in the winter. Yes, I think your gun is more prone for breaking because they weren't designed to play in cold places. The plastics in your gun could crack.

Yes. we play in the winter with snow on the ground. V2 guns tend to not survive too well. has guns are limited to a few weak rounds

Yes you can play outside. Just make sure you play proper winter weather gear to avoud frsot bite and hpythermia. If you look in the after action reports sections and airsoft media section tou will see the great winter action shots. Frozen Tex can tell you all about playing in the snow.

Have played in the winter with a V3 gearbox gun and no problems. I've heard of hop-up damage and mechbox problems for some people's guns. I have had no problem. I love winter games. You can actually dive for cover and white camo is amazing in snow.

Gas powered guns however will definitely be a no-go because the low temperatures will affect gas expansion and they just won't work well.

Anyways, winter games are fun, as long as you don't slip on the ice.

we play all winter here in Kamloops, but tend to limit it to -15 or so. cold weather is very rough on upgraded guns and most of us use stock tm's or spring based shotguns when its that cold. the above users are right make sure you dress for the cold, i just did a trip to salmon arm and it was just cold enough for a bit of snow on the ground and i wasnt dressed for it and was uncomfortable whenever i wasnt on the move(great gameday though, awsome feild and players)

Well, sure, you can play in the winter...

We don't go much below -10 (we're lazy wusses)...

GBBs won't work for more than a few shots... I now stick a glove warmer packet in my Crane stock to keep my battery warm. We've had no problems with our V2 gearboxes in the cold, using a mix of G&G cansofts and a Classic Army or two, maybe an ICS.

As long as you don't have a gun set up for 400 FPS you'll be perfectly fine, high end stock guns are all sub 350, and most cheaper guns, once downgraded to 350 will have no issues. Batteries die ALLOT quicker however. Carry extras close to your body to keep them warm. And as stated, GBBs are fairly useless.

EDIT: after seeing drakes post i must add one more thing.... AVOID V2 MECHBOXES for the winter. V3/6/7/8 at minimum or spring shotties/BA rifles

Mind you I was able to play with it all day, I just had lousy FPS :P

The colder it gets, the more problem-prone everything becomes: frozen/ripped hopup sleeves, accelerated battery drainage, increased risk of damage to certain materials, etc

Winter is so beautiful. Ice, snowflakes, crisp air. Cold that makes you hustle.

If you DRESS APPROPRIATELY then you will have fun.

If it's really cold, guns may be wonkey but you can stand around and bullshit or use a knife.

I love winter because there are less people outside which always means more space/privacy hiking with my dog in parks and the beach.

I wouldn't bring my V2 out.

Bolt action downgraded to 350 FPS (I had some O-rings freeze and break off of some surfaces last winter at 460 FPS)

Ive ran a 330FPS version 2 in -15 and for the most part I had no issues, it was a little taxing on the battery but nothing terrible. If you have a version 2 and are worried about it exploding I would recommend investing in an STS.
