Mini to Large connectors?

I have a JG M4 CQB, it has a rear-wired mini connector. I got a large 8.4v 2500mah battery in trade (forgot I had a mini connector).

Just wondering if I should use this mini to large connector? and where would I obtain one? Thanks!

neither...go with large deans connectors. Better current flow as well as solid connection. Pretty much anyone who wants higher performance in their connectors uses deans. Available at most decent RC and hobby shops.

that would work fine....but deans is still the way to go. You can also change the connectors on your smart charger...not a big deal....just need a soldering iron..

If you MUST make a large to small connector, make sure to wire them up the "wrong way", aka. reverse them for polarity. Small connectors are always wired up the opposite from the large connectors as far as the square and half square/half circle polarity keys go.

It'll probably take less time to switch everything to deans, then you'll have a nice, quality set of ONE type of connector. You can change the connector on your charger no problem.

Fuses are just there to explode in case you get a surge in power, so your gun/battery doesn't explode instead (correct me if I'm wrong)

Sorry, I'm a total noob... How would I reverse the polarity? I thought it was as simple as putting in the connector and it works.

Thank you

Really swap it all to deans and be done with it. Alot easier in the long run.

Fuses are in place to protect the wiring, nothing more.

The polarity is dictated by which wire is in the "key", which is the half square/half round means of contact with both connector sexes. Been a while, but I recall the red being in the semi square/circle part of a large connector, but the same type of key holds the black wire on the small connector. Just look at the connectors for the key and sort out what colour wire goes into which. The small is reverse of the large (gay, I know).

I see what you mean, it is reversed. with the mini to large connector, would that not fix the polarity?
What if the polarity is not correctly uhh... fixed?
what would happen?

If the polarity was kept reversed, you'd likely blow the output fuse on your charger (happened to me once when I wasn't apying attention when swapping four mini batteries over to large connectors, the last one I kept the same polarity as the mini, my charger took a hit and wouldn't work. Simple fuse change and realization of the polarity mistake fixed it).

Hmm, okay how would I "switch" the polarity? would it be inserting the wires into opposite holes?

Like I said above, look at the end of the plugs, there is a key, one square hole, one half square/half circular. See what colour wire goes into each hole, and you'll see the small and large are reversed. If you are wiring it for large, wire it the same, which is the opposite of the mini.

I see you have a wanted post up for a mini to large connector. What you want is an adaptor, is about 10mins to make if you have the parts. Hobby shops would likely have the connectors. And if you are in the GTA as you say, hit up one of the gun techs down there to make you one, the parts are common from them switching mini batteries to large connectors (or switching all to Deans which is recommended).
