Do V2's crack in Mp5s as often as M4s?
Being that it is winter season, I'm a little reticent to game my Mp5 as it's shooting over 400 FPS. I mostly hear of V2s cracking in M4s and on M4's the problem is exacerbated by the open area in front of the gearbox where the hop-up chamber is. This can be mitigated by things like the STS v2 shock transfer system (http://www.v2fix.com/).
There is no such thing for the Mp5 though, should I be worried about mechbox cracking in cold temperatures?

ive seen a few v2s burst, i dont believe it has more to do with the gun its in, than power and piston. the v2 has achiles heel and its the wafer thin cast right infront of the cylinder, where the piston can strike the cylinder head. on a warm day high fps and/ or metal piston or piston head can cause fissures/ hairline cracks over time, but in the cold, STEEL becomes brittle at -35, this cast postmetal becomes brittle at -10. at 400fps you can play outside in the cold and it may or maynot burst, but i wouldnt take it out under -5 or -10 athe most

The reason I ask is because that the M4 shock transfer system transfers the shock of the piston slamming into the cylinder head into the body of the gun. With the Mp5, the receiver is holding the gearbox differently and I was wondering if this helped at all.
I probably won't game this Mp5 past -5 if possible. It's quite the hot gun and stock JG gearbox.

Yet to see the issue in Mp5 (over 4 years) or any friends either though I wouldnt be surprised if they brake as often.

The Ajax STS is made for AR's not MP5's.

All the broken mechboxes I've seen so far are from hopped-up guns. Playing at 280-320fps, I've had no mechbox failures due to cold. I wouldn't try a 400fps v2 in the cold myself, as I don't think it's a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

Hint : MP5K has V3 mechbox.

Mp5 boxes still break, though less frequently due to how the body holds the box. Now personally I never let this stop me from playing as i rather have fun and have it break and then replace it, than sit on my ass for 1/3 of the year.
Also Never had a box break on me, played with a stock JG box with the stock JG m120 or 130 spring in -5 to -10 weather before with zero issues... aside from dead batteries >.< |

I've played one cold weather game with this Mp5 but fortunately, it was a zombie game and I stuck to semi. Might have had a problem if it was full auto.
Too bad ebaybanned doesn't complete Mp5 gearboxes for cheap anymore otherwise I'd just grab a crappy one for winter games.

all V2s are the same. The piston will impact the gearbox just as hard no matter what(And energy transfer will just be as inefficient unlike V3s). The way it's being held doesn't really help, in fact it's quite similar to how it's held in place like M4s.
Ajax STS helps because it dissipates the energy from the outside, but there is no similar parts doing the same on MP5s(What's in front of the gearbox is the same on M4s and MP5s, Hop up unit). Shaniqua, you can just pick up any V2 mechbox and change the air nozzle and selector plate. |

Sorbo Pad + ARS Sorbo Piston head.
I've made a Marui M4 that fired 400+ FPS into a DMR gun and from what I've heard so far, the gun's still running strong without any sign of failure (and it has been used in sub 0 temperatures) |
